Trees shape our perception of landscape – they are silent actors in an interplay of light and shadow. From this dynamic emerges a powerful visual language that becomes a metaphor for life itself.
In this workshop, under guidance of Machteld Aardse you will learn how compositions are structured through the use of tonal values, light, and shadow, and how nuanced shades of green can be created through mixing – from transparent glazes to opaque, impasto applications of paint.
We will work with Lascaux Artist acrylic paints, as well with other media, using various techniques.
Please bring: Your own reference images of trees or forest scenes. Basic materials are included. Those who wish to paint on canvas are welcome to bring their own (max. 40 x 40 cm) or purchase one on site.
