DREAMS BY THE SEA #1#2#3 / WILLEMSOORD DEN HELDER

Community art project started in 2022 in which artists Machteld Aardse and Femke Kempkes, together with steal-teachers Peter Jonas and Jan Glazema from Museumhaven Willemsoord, collaborated since with every year more than 150 school children from Den Helder. This resulted in a growing steel art sculpture in the public space on Museum harbour Willemsoord Den Helder. Together they worked on themes specific to the site, performing the urban memory.

With the typical crafts of the Museum harbour such as welding, woodworking as a starting point and the artists as supervisors, the children have built a growing permanent work of art on the Museum harbour. With the help of the lighting technicians of the lightship De Texel, the artwork is specially lighted. The chosen form of the artwork fits in with the nautical history and future of Willemsoord.
