LICHT POST / LIGHT POST / LONELINESS

In Lichtpost (Light Post) artists Femke Kempkes and Machteld Aardse work together on social themes, such as Corona and Loneliness. The content is made by children and transformed into light artwork. Lichtpost is realised in many places: Alphen aan de Rijn, Amsterdam Zuid Oost, throughout the Netherlands.

Cries from the heart of children are shown in a light artwork at nine NS stations throughout the Netherlands in the fall of 2022. Texts and drawings in which the children talk about loneliness and what we can do about it together. Students from the IMC Weekend School Foundation were invited to participate by artists Machteld Aardse and Femke Kempkes. More than 100 students participated and worked on the meaning of ‘what does loneliness mean to you and what can you do for someone else?’

Machteld and Femke have converted all input into light artworks, each station a unique work of art. From Winschoten to Vlissingen, from Heerlen to Amsterdam.
