YOU AND THE LONDON SKY | by Sonia de Cristofaro & Machteld Aardse | 2017

The hand-made book with Japanese binding (by Lyske Gais) contains original drawings and 'semi-silkscreened' poems. It is about love and mourning; maybe it is about you. It is the story of a sky in which clouds keep moving on, calling down, brushing up the sea.

In this book the back of the drawing is as important as the front. The hidden which is seen at first sight, is part of the other side, the story seen as clear. The layers all together share the performed vulnerability of a life story.

THE REASON I LIKE POEMS

Poems are like clouds

They state their case and

pass you by

they baa like sheep

when sheep aren’t there

They carry you far from where you are

I like poems

They never let me down

It’s not about the story

but about the common ground

Sometimes I find a poem

Lying

At the bottom of my heart

to say how much I love you

Each time I fear I’ve lost you

Joy you are my poem,

And the cloud that’s passed me by

You’re also my regret

You,

And the London sky.

You are also my regret
